Meet our Haematology Prize winners!

It’s a privilege and delight to announce our five Haematology Prize winners for 2021 and 2022.

Part of the mission of the Bone Marrow Cancer Research Trust is to support the education of medical students in the field of bone marrow and blood related cancers.  Each year we support a Haematology Prize for fifth year medical students. Due to COVID the awarding of this prize was put on hold but we’re delighted to now have the opportunity to award both the 2021 and 2022 prizes.

The Haematology Prize recognises medical students who demonstrate outstanding merit and provides the recipients with the opportunity to receive a prize of $3,000.

Award recipient Aquila Chua says receiving the Haematology Prize is a huge privilege.  “To me this award will serve as an internal compass to remind me of two important responsibilities of doctors – to provide holistic care for patients and their whānau and to stay at the forefront of research to guide my future practice,” says Aquila.

Congratulations to all the recipients and thank you to the exceptional group of haematologists who work alongside the Research Trust to support our mission to enable better outcomes for cancer patients through the funding of world-class research.
