Christchurch Marathon 2026: Over $41,000 Raised for Rānui

What an incredible day at the Christchurch Marathon on 12 April 2026, with our Run for Rānui community coming together to support patients and whānau staying at Rānui while receiving medical treatment in Christchurch hospitals.

Together, we raised over $41,000 for the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust – a result that reflects the generosity, commitment and heart of everyone involved.

We want to extend a huge thank you to every runner, walker, donor and supporter who got behind Run for Rānui. These efforts make a real difference helping us continue to provide a home-away-from-home for those who need to travel for life-saving treatment.

A special acknowledgement to our top fundraisers, whose fundraising prowess along with participation in the event was outstanding:

  • Tayla – $5,383
  • Shane’s Gang – $7,233 (top fundraising group)
  • Izzy – $2,294

And a big shoutout as well to Move Your Rānui, who raised an impressive $2,372.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the Christchurch Marathon organisers for delivering such a standout event. This year saw a record-breaking 8,479 athletes take part – a fantastic achievement and a real testament to the strength and spirit of the running community. Bringing together an event of this scale is no small feat, and the energy across the course reflected the care and effort that goes into making race day so special.

Run for Rānui continues to grow each year, and it’s because of this community showing up, giving back and standing alongside our patients and their whānau that we’re able to keep doing what we do.

We’re already looking ahead with excitement to the 50th anniversary of the Christchurch Marathon in 2027 – watch this space!
