When a loved one is fighting for their life,
their family and community fights with them.

The Bone Marrow Cancer Trust and the Bone Marrow Cancer Research Trust are charitable trusts. We rely on the generosity of donations from our community, grants from philanthropic trusts, bequests, business support, and funds raised through events we run.

There are many ways you can support the work of the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust. You can make a one-off donation, become a Friend of Rānui and give monthly, fundraise for us, donate goods, or make a lasting impact through legacy giving

Become a Friend of Rānui and support the journey of families that travel to Christchurch for life-saving medical treatment.

Friends of Rānui are a group of caring, compassionate Kiwis who choose to donate on a regular basis.  They understand that it is the practical things in life that matter when people are facing their medical journey away from home and that a home- away-from-home makes an enormous difference.

By giving a small amount each month, you can help us plan well into the future to ensure that families staying at Rānui have everything they need from the moment they walk through our front door. As a Friend of Rānui, you’ll receive updates with stories of impact, and a copy of our annual newsletter.

It’s easy to become a Friend of Rānui; click on the link below, nominate an amount you’d like to donate each month, enter your personal details, and credit card information. Each month you’ll receive a donation receipt via email and this amount can be changed at any time.

Or for more information please reach out to our team at hello@bmct.org.nz.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving makes it easy for an employee to make regular donations to the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust and Rānui, or our Bone Marrow Cancer Research Trust, directly from their wages each pay cycle. The amount nominated is deducted directly from salary or wages with an immediate tax credit upon each donation.

It’s easy to set up with the employer and can be alternated in value or duration upon the employees instruction at any point.

To find out more about setting up Payroll Giving at your workplace please contact Jodie Gill on jodie@bmct.org.nz or 027 438 0003.

Leave a Legacy of Light – a gift for the future.

Each year, thousands of New Zealand families face the devastating news of a loved one diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. In that moment, the world stops and can feel like a dark place.

With your help, we can provide a light in the darkness.

By leaving a legacy to the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust you can be a light in the darkness for families today, and into the future. You will be supporting our mission to care, and our vision to cure, and will ensure when patients and families need us the most, we will be there.

Making a legacy gift, otherwise known as a bequest, is simple. It doesn’t impact on your life today but will empower you with the knowledge your generosity and spirit will live on.

To discuss legacy giving and talk about how we can help you provide cope, comfort, and care for generations to come, contact Jodie Gill on jodie@bmct.org.nz or 027 438 0003.

“Rānui House pulled us out of a nasty, dark hole and shone a little bit of light into our lives.

“I know mum will be 100% happy where that money has gone. It’s such a special legacy for us to leave for her and I know our family’s connection with Rānui will continue for years to come.”

– Connor Shirley, son of Melise Tilley.

Enhance Your Giving – Give and Get Your Tax Back

Kiwis are incredibly generous – we see it every day. But did you know you can get a tax rebate on your donations, and that you can amplify your impact by gifting that rebate forward?

When you give to a registered charity in New Zealand, you can claim 33% of that back as a tax rebate. That means if you donate $30, you can get $10 back – if you’ve donated $300, that’s $100 back!

Why does this exist? To encourage generosity, strengthen community-driven support, and create a culture of philanthropy. Many donors even re-gift their tax rebate, making an even bigger impact!

How to claim your tax rebate
The fastest and easiest way to submit your donation receipt is online in myIR (the Inland Revenue website).

  1. In your myIR account select ‘Enter donation tax credit receipts’ in your donation tax credit account.
  2. Follow the instructions on screen and fill in the details which will be noted on your receipt.
  3. Upload your receipt as a digital file (photos or scans of the receipt are also okay).
  4. If you have more than one receipt to submit select ‘add a receipt’ again and repeat the process.
  5. Confirm and submit the receipt. At this point you have the option to transfer some or all of your tax credit. You can select ‘yes’ if you’d like to donate the credit back to Bone Marrow Cancer Trust for example.

Alternately, you can file a tax credit claim form (IR526). Find out more about how to do that here.

You can even claim up to four years back!

Don’t miss this chance to maximise your impact – claim your rebate and keep the generosity going!
